Alpine flowers, bears, mountain goats, wild rocky vistas, glacial lakes, water falls.
This trail passes through a cut block, old mining road, and sub-alpine meadows. Old mine dumps are visible and cairns mark the trail.
At about 2.5km on the trail there is a trip to your right that leads you to the old cabin of the Alps Alturas Mine. From here there is a beautiful view of the ridges of Dennis Basin.
The trail moves steeply through talus slopes with mountain lakes hundreds of metres below.
Access: Turn off Highway 6, at Rosebery, onto the "East Wilson Creek Road" which soon becomes the "Wilson Creek Forest Service Road". Follow this good, 2 wheel drive, gravel road for 2.6 km.
Turn right onto the "Hicks Creek Road" for another 13km (stay left),past Denis Basin trail road. . THe road then turns into a single lane 4x4 road for another 10+km. Watch for the brown marker.
