This community website was created for the people
of the Slocan Valley and other like-minded people on the planet.
SLOCANVALLEY.com is THE place for locals and outsiders to find
out about the people, organisations, and community happenings in
this wonderful mountain valley paradise we call home.
Come live with us for a day, a week, forever...
Site Contributors and Thanks
The vision for SLOCANVALLEY.com was created and realized
by the Slocan Valley Economic Development Commission (SVEDC), a
valley-wide collection of government and citizen representatives.
SVEDC’s drive, initiative and synergy secured the funding
for the site build, and they are committed to keeping it a vibrant
contributor to our mountain community.
SLOCANVALLEY.com is owned and operated by the people and communities
in the Slocan Valley, and was developed with the advisement of over
50 community organisations and businesses.
The photographs on this site are donated by members of our community…most
notably Jack and Ella Amstutz. Jack
passed away in April 2004. Jack you are missed and remembered –
your community thanks you for these wonderful memories of the valley.
Katherine Gordon wrote the history
of the valley section and helped edit content. Excerpts from her
new book, "The Slocan: Portrait of a Valley" (Sono Nis
Press, Winlaw 2004). are found throughout the site.
Rita Moir a local writer penned the
homepage and helped with the editing.
Jeff Bustard a graphic artist based
in New Denver created the map of the valley, and the recreation
map.
Funktion Design and Media designed
the site and built it.
Bruce Lacroix and Tamara
Smith coordinated the project and wrote much of the content.
Profile pages in the Community Directory are submitted and maintained
by the businesses and organisations they represent.
Development of this site was funded by Western
Economic Diversification and the Slocan Valley Economic Development
Commission.
Ongoing costs to maintain this site and to keep it fresh and relevant
are provided by the Slocan Valley Economic Development Commission.
